Registered Nurse (RN) – Neuro Stepdown / IMC / PCU

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 31-bed Neuro Stepdown and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) with a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio for Stepdown and 1:5–6 for EMU patients
• Care for higher-acuity neuroscience patients including those with strokes, seizures, craniotomies, and EVDs
• Implement NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) assessments and monitor neurological status for stroke and post-operative neuroscience patients
• Administer and monitor set-rate and protocol-driven drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, and Insulin per physician orders
• Collaborate with Respiratory Therapy for management of floor ventilators; RNs are not required to independently manage ventilators
• Participate in weekend rotation (every other weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule) and holiday rotation as required

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (any license issues must be disclosed at time of submission)
• Current BLS certification (required at time of submission)
• NIHSS certification in hand at time of submission
• Strong, demonstrated Neuro experience with a history of caring for stroke patients and implementing NIH Stroke Scale assessments
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records
• COVID-19 vaccination required (fully vaccinated); medical or religious exemption requests must be submitted for approval

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification preferred
• Experience with External Ventricular Drains (EVDs)
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring in a stepdown setting
