On-site resources are in place to facilitate coordinated care for the cardiothoracic surgery service line.

The cardiothoracic surgeon will provide inpatient coverage on a 24-hour shift and 24-hour call basis at an on-site facility in Paducah, Kentucky, across the assigned coverage dates. Clinical responsibilities include adult cardiac surgery, CABG using internal mammary arteries and radial artery conduits including redo cases, heart valve repair and replacement, and general thoracic procedures such as tube thoracostomy, tracheostomy, bronchoscopy, VATS decortication, lung biopsy, and pericardial window. The clinician will also manage ICU care for high-acuity cases including Impella insertion, removal, and bailout, as well as medical management of critically ill patients. Structural heart procedure support in the hybrid OR and cath lab is a required component of this assignment.
