Full Charge Bookkeeper

***Applicants must reside in Wisconsin or Northern Illinois*** Krause Estate Planning & Elder Law Center is seeking an experienced full-charge Bookkeeper/Payroll Specialist to join our firm. JOB SUMMARY:

The Bookkeeper/Payroll Specialist II independently manages payroll and core bookkeeping functions for the firm. This role ensures compliance with payroll and tax laws, reconciles accounts, and oversees accounts payable and receivable.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Independently process payroll, including wage calculations, deductions, garnishments, and direct deposits Monitor computer-generated reports for errors, troubleshoot discrepancies, and reconcile payroll issues Maintain and update master payroll records, including tax exemptions, benefits, and loan payments Record employee transfers, wage adjustments, and other personnel-related payroll changes Prepare and file periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions Assist with preparation and issuance of W-2 forms at year-end Oversee accounts payable and receivable, including vendor payments, client billing support, and reconciliations Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for attorney/management review Ensure compliance with applicable payroll/tax regulations and firm accounting policies

WHAT'S REQUIRED?

2-5 years of general office, accounting, and payroll experience; legal experience is highly preferred Extensive experience with QuickBooks Online Bondable up to $4M

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, during regular business hours. While this role offers the flexibility to work remotely, we prefer candidates within a reasonable commuting distance of Oregon, WI, as occasional in-office work may be necessary.

HYBRID/REMOTE WORK REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates must have a dedicated, private workspace free from distractions. A quiet, secure setting is required to maintain privacy and comply with all relevant privacy regulations. In addition, candidates should have a reliable internet connection and be able to manage their time effectively to meet team goals.
