HR Specialist

The HR Specialist is responsible for supporting the day-to-day administration of Human Resources across Parakeet Cafe. This role serves as the operational backbone of the HR function, ensuring employees are successfully onboarded, offboarded, paid accurately, and maintained within our HR systems.

The HR Specialist will manage onboarding and offboarding processes, maintain employee records, oversee HRIS data integrity, and ensure compliance with employment documentation requirements. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

While this position is primarily Monday through Friday, some flexibility is required to support a business that operates 365 days a year. Occasional availability outside of standard business hours, including weekends and holidays, may be needed to support employee onboarding, payroll, or other time-sensitive HR matters.

Pay Range: $24-25/hour 

Key Responsibilities

Onboarding & Offboarding

• Coordinate onboarding for all new hires, ensuring all required documentation is completed prior to employment.
• Monitor and track completion of onboarding tasks, including I-9s, tax forms, direct deposit setup, and company acknowledgements.
• Facilitate employee offboarding, including termination paperwork, final pay coordination, and system access removal.
• Partner with managers to ensure onboarding and offboarding requests are submitted timely and accurately.

HRIS & Employee Records Administration

• Serve as a primary administrator for ADP.
• Process employee status changes including new hires, transfers, promotions, compensation changes, leaves, and terminations.
• Maintain accurate employee records and personnel files.
• Conduct regular audits to ensure employee data remains accurate and compliant.
• Generate reports and workforce data as needed.
• Occasionally provide payroll support. 

Compliance & Documentation

• Administer I-9 and E-Verify processes.
• Monitor compliance with employment documentation requirements.
• Maintain onboarding, training, and compliance trackers.
• Support employment verifications, audits, and document requests.
• Ensure HR records are organized and maintained in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.

What We're Looking For

• 1-3 years of HR, Administrative, or HR Coordinator experience.
• Experience working within an HRIS platform (ADP preferred).
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Comfortable handling confidential employee information.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace.
