Work Environment\n

This position is based in a remote setting, but our counseling center has close ties with on-campus resources to provide comprehensive support. Our team enjoys access to state-of-the-art facilities and comprehensive resources, enabling us to effectively cater to students' mental health needs. You will find a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive workplace culture that promotes teamwork and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities\n

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, your responsibilities will encompass a range of essential tasks:

  • \n
  • Provide focused, short-term counseling services, including crisis intervention for students facing acute mental health challenges.
  • \n
  • Design and facilitate therapy groups and workshops aimed at addressing themes such as stress management, anxiety, and self-esteem development, tailoring content to meet the needs of our student population.
  • \n
  • Collaborate effectively with faculty, student organizations, and academic advisors to build a comprehensive support network for students, ensuring a well-rounded approach to mental health care.
  • \n

  • \n
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with ethical and legal standards, ensuring proper documentation of all therapeutic interactions.
  • \n
Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Your primary focus will be on students aged 15-25, who face a unique array of challenges, including academic pressure, social adjustment, and mental health issues. This age group often experiences developmental transitions, making it critical to provide tailored support that addresses these specific circumstances. By understanding their experiences, you will better engage with students and foster an atmosphere of trust and openness.

Qualifications\n

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • \n
  • Strong understanding of the mental health concerns commonly faced by college students, exhibiting awareness of cultural and socioeconomic factors that may impact their experiences.
  • \n
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build meaningful rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • \n
  • Familiarity with evidence-based therapeutic modalities and brief therapy techniques applicable to a university counseling context.
  • \n
Preferred Experience\n

Previous experience working in an academic setting or with younger populations is highly preferred. Familiarity with managing a diverse caseload and experience engaging in community outreach or educational programming will be advantageous in this role.

Compensation and Benefits\n

We offer a competitive salary ranging from $70,000 to $100,000 yearly, commensurate with experience and education. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:

  • Generous paid time off, allowing you to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
  • \n
  • Professional development opportunities, encouraging continuous learning and growth in your field.
  • \n
  • Access to a vibrant work environment, with opportunities for collaboration on research and publication projects in the realm of college counseling.
  • \n
  • Resources within the university setting, including libraries, recreational facilities, and cultural engagement initiatives.
  • \n
