Work Environment

The Surgical Center at Accord Medical Center is a state-of-the-art facility equipped with advanced medical technologies tailored for trauma and surgical care. As a Physician Assistant working here, you will be based onsite, collaborating with a dedicated team during your full-time schedule of Monday to Friday, starting at 5:00 PM and covering 40 hours per week. This structure allows for an engaging work-life balance while ensuring that you provide critical care when it is needed most.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond immediately to trauma alerts, assessing patients’ conditions promptly upon arrival.
• Stabilize critically injured patients and administer immediate medical care to prevent further deterioration.
• Assist in resuscitation efforts, utilizing advanced life-support protocols during emergency situations.
• Conduct thorough physical examinations and interpret diagnostic tests to assist in forming accurate treatment plans.
• Manage medication administration and treatments as prescribed by supervising physicians.
• Facilitate interprofessional coordination of care for trauma patients, effectively communicating with nursing staff and physicians.
• Provide education to patients and their families regarding trauma care, treatment options, and recovery processes.
• Assist in necessary invasive procedures and wound management under the supervision of experienced surgical personnel.
• Monitor and manage patients’ pain and discomfort, ensuring comfort and well-being.
• Adhere to infection control policies and safety protocols within the surgical environment.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The patients you will serve are primarily individuals suffering from acute injuries and illnesses, often requiring immediate trauma intervention. You will also engage with patients recovering from surgical procedures, focusing on comprehensive and compassionate post-operative care. Your ability to provide empathic support and education will be crucial in assisting patients and their families through challenging times.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, completed with an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Valid state licensure as a Physician Assistant.
• Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in emergency medicine or trauma care settings is required.
• Familiarity with trauma assessment and stabilization protocols, along with the ability to perform trauma-related procedures.
• Strong clinical judgment and effective communication skills for collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.
• Proficiency in documenting patient care and treatment records accurately.
• Commitment to understanding infection control practices within the trauma setting.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is USD 140,000 to 180,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
