Registered Nurse - 3 Pines Acute Care/Observation Unit

Job Description POSITION SUMMARY The Registered Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with physicians. The RN utilizes the nursing care process – assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation – in inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. Responsibilities include coordinating interdisciplinary care plans, maintaining documentation, performing laboratory services when necessary, participating in quality improvement initiatives, and continuing professional development. Assessment – Collecting and organizing subjective and objective data (physical, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural) to identify patient needs. Planning – Developing a documented plan of care with goals and desired outcomes. Intervention – Implementing specific interventions or orders that align with the plan and medical treatment plan. Evaluation – Assessing effectiveness of interventions, revising care plans, and documenting required actions. RNs may perform limited laboratory services: patient identification, specimen collection, sample processing, quality control, instrument maintenance, and result reporting. Eventual presentation of educational activities is required, supporting continuous growth and improvement of the patient care team. Qualifications Education / Licensure Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Nurses hired without a BSN must be enrolled in a BSN program within 1 year and complete it within 3 years. Current RN licensure in New Jersey or a valid multi‑state license. BLS required. Valid New Jersey driver’s license (required for Adult and Child Partial Programs). Experience Minimum of 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; critical care experience preferred. Specific unit experience may include Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit, Cardiovascular ICU, Telemetry, Operating Room, PACU, Cath Lab, and Structural Heart. Experience in behavioral health, labor and delivery, pediatrics, oncology, or other specialty units as required by the selected unit. Advanced Certifications (Required) ACLS within 6 months of hire or transfer. ATCN or TNCC within 24 months of hire or transfer. PALS or ENPC within 12 months of hire or transfer. CCRN preferred for critical care units; OCN preferred for oncology units. Other specialty certifications (e.g., ICU, Structural Heart, Labor & Delivery) as applicable to the unit. Certification Maintenance Minimum 8 contact hours of education per year in trauma assessment, intervention, and stabilization. Minimum 8 contact hours of education per year in stroke assessment, intervention, and NIHSS within 6 months of hire. Ongoing bulk education in critical care or specialty areas as required by unit. Job Focus and Responsibilities Perform all duties in accordance with state regulations and hospital policies, maintain competency, and lead and mentor peers as needed. Work may involve blood‑borne pathogen exposure, physical demands such as lifting, stooping, and operating equipment, and discernment of colors in certain activities.
