Accounting Specialist

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for supporting the organization's day-to-day accounting and financial operations, ensuring accurate financial records, timely processing of transactions, and compliance with company policies and applicable accounting standards. This role involves accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and assistance with month-end and year-end closing activities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, analytical, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality. Responsibilities Process vendor invoices, verify supporting documentation, reconcile vendor statements, and ensure timely payments. Prepare customer invoices, record payments, monitor outstanding balances, and follow up on overdue accounts. Maintain accurate accounting records and assist with journal entries and account coding. Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, balance sheet accounts, and other general ledger accounts. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing procedures and prepare supporting schedules. Prepare routine financial reports, spreadsheets, and accounting summaries for management review. Review employee expense reports and credit card transactions for accuracy and compliance with company policies. Maintain organized financial documentation and provide supporting records for internal and external audits. Follow established accounting procedures, internal controls, and applicable financial regulations. Maintain accurate filing systems, respond to accounting inquiries, and assist the accounting team with special projects. Qualifications Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and other formulas used for financial analysis, account reconciliations, and reporting. 3+ years of accounting experience Knowledge of basic accounting principles and general ledger procedures. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and time-management abilities. Ability to manage deadlines and work independently as well as part of a team. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion.
