Neuroscience Critical Care, Nurse Practitioner (30 and 36 hours)

Position Summary / Department Summary Neuroscience Critical Care Nurse Practitioner Key Responsibilities Provide continuous care for patients in the Neurocritical Care Service, a consultative unit supporting critically ill pediatric patients from infants to young adults admitted to the intensive care units at Boston Children’s Hospital with neurological or neurosurgical conditions, or at risk of developing neurological complications. Perform patient assessments, take medical histories, conduct physical examinations, and plan and implement care plans in collaboration with supervising Neurocritical Care Consult Attendings for patients in the medical, surgical, neonatal, and cardiac ICUs followed by the Neurocritical Care Service. Enhance continuity of care and coordinate comprehensive care plans; participate in ongoing research studies within the ICUs; and serve as a nursing consultant to nursing and collaborating medical teams in the ICUs. Work 30 or 36 hours per week with a rotation schedule that includes every third weekend. (Both 30‑hour and 36‑hour roles are available.) Minimum Qualifications Education: Master of Science in Nursing. Experience: Minimum of 3 years acute‑care experience as an RN or NP. New graduate NPs considered if they demonstrate strong acute‑care and/or neuroscience nursing experience. 1‑3 years of NP experience strongly preferred. Previous neuroscience and pediatric clinical experience strongly preferred. Certification within specialty area expected within 3 years of appointment.
