Regional Dietary Manager – State Veterans HomesSTGi is seeking qualified candidates for this position in connection with an active Request for Proposals (RFP). Hiring for this role is contingent upon STGi's selection as the successful awardee.JOB SUMMARY:The Regional Dietary Manager provides leadership and oversight of food service and nutrition operations across multiple long-term care facilities within an assigned region. This role ensures high-quality, resident-centered dining services, regulatory compliance, food safety, and consistent implementation of organizational standards while supporting facility dietary managers and interdisciplinary teams. Travel is required and is extensive throughout assigned region.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Oversee dietary and food service operations across multiple long-term care facilitiesEnsure meals meet residents' nutritional needs, preferences, cultural considerations, and physician-ordered dietsPromote resident-centered dining and quality of life initiativesMonitor food quality, presentation, portion control, and service standardsEnsure compliance with CMS regulations, state health department requirements, and applicable F-TagsEnsure adherence to food safety and sanitation standards, including HACCP, ServSafe, and infection prevention protocolsSupport survey readiness, mock surveys, and corrective action plans related to dietary servicesProvide coaching, support, and oversight to facility Dietary Managers and food service staffAssist with hiring, onboarding, training, and performance managementPromote ongoing education related to nutrition, food safety, and resident-centered careMonitor food and supply costs; support budget development and cost containment strategiesReview purchasing practices, inventory controls, and vendor utilizationIdentify opportunities to improve efficiency while maintaining qualitySupport menu planning to ensure nutritional adequacy, variety, and compliance with regulationsReview modified diets, therapeutic menus, and texture-modified foodsAnalyze satisfaction data, grievances, and quality metrics to drive improvementsPartner with Administrators, Nursing, Speech Therapy, Dietitians, and Infection Prevention teamsParticipate in QAPI, IDT, and care planning meetings as appropriateServe as a regional resource for dietary operations and issue resolutionREQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credentialServSafe certification (or ability to obtain within required timeframe)Minimum 3–5 years of dietary management experience in long-term care or healthcare settingsStrong knowledge of CMS dietary regulations, food safety standards, and infection preventionAbility to travel regularly within assigned regionPREFERRED:Prior regional or multi-facility dietary leadership experienceAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Food Service Management, or related fieldExperience with resident-centered dining and culture change initiativesSKILLS & COMPETENCIES:Strong leadership and team development skillsExcellent organizational and time management abilitiesAttention to detail and regulatory complianceEffective communication with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teamsAbility to manage multiple facilities and prioritiesWORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:The physical demands and work environment described herein is a representative of those that generally must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:• This position primarily involves sitting, standing, walking, twisting, reaching, bending/stooping, pushing and pulling (typical weight of 5 lbs. and maximum weight of 100 lbs., approximately), and lifting (minimum weight of 5 lbs. and maximum weight of 100 lbs., approximately)• The position requires repetitive finger movements as well as hearing and talking on the phone and in person.• Must be able to continuously deal effectively with stress created by residents, multiple tasks, noises, interruptions, and work cooperatively as part of the health care team while maintaining a pleasant attitudeDISCLAIMER:The preceding job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
