About the Role This is a ground-floor opportunity to build Supersure’s financial institution channel from scratch. As Sr. Business Development Director - Financial Institutions, you will own the full lifecycle of sourcing, pitching, and closing referral and distribution relationships with regional banks, credit unions, and fintech platforms. This is a highly external, relationship-driven role that demands strong commercial instincts, disciplined pipeline management, and the credibility to show up in front of compliance officers, marketing executives, business line marketing teams, and C‑suite audiences at regulated financial institutions. What You’ll Do Build and manage a target list and active pipeline of regional banks, credit unions, fintech platforms, and other financial institutions, from first touch to signed agreement. Own outbound outreach strategy end-to-end, you identify the targets, craft the approach, and drive the conversation. Lead introductory conversations and pitch meetings with key decision makers — business line leaders, marketing executives, compliance, risk, and the C‑suite. Manage the full sales lifecycle: initial outreach → pitch → negotiation → signed agreement → onboarding and ongoing relationship management. Structure and close referral and distribution relationship agreements that create sustainable, mutual economics for both Supersure and its financial institution partners. Maintain disciplined pipeline hygiene, accurate forecasting, and consistent reporting — you treat the CRM like it matters, because it does. Collaborate with marketing, legal, finance, compliance, and product to sharpen the value proposition, develop pitch materials, and ensure every deal is structured for long‑term success. Partner with senior leadership to define and refine Supersure’s go‑to‑market strategy for the financial institution channel, building repeatable processes and scalable playbooks as you go. Identify longer‑term strategic opportunities — referral programs, embedded insurance and benefits, and channel expansion — and bring them forward with a clear commercial case. Required Qualifications 10+ years of business development, sales, or partnership experience, with direct relationships at the decision‑maker level within financial institutions. 5+ years of direct selling experience into banks and/or credit unions — not marketing to them, but selling to them. A bachelor’s degree in a related field. Demonstrated experience managing the full sales lifecycle: origination through close, onboarding, and ongoing account management. Proven ability to navigate complex, multi‑stakeholder sales environments in regulated industries — including engagement with compliance, risk, and executive teams. Experience working cross‑functionally with marketing, legal, finance, product, and compliance teams to move deals forward. CRM proficiency and strong pipeline reporting discipline. Comfortable with Microsoft 365 and a natural adopter of AI tools to work smarter. Willingness and ability to travel significantly as needed to build and maintain relationships in the field. An existing network across regional banks and credit unions, ideally with relationships at the marketing team or business line decision‑maker level. Preferred Qualifications Background in insurance, insurtech, fintech, or financial services distribution models. Experience with referral programs, embedded finance/insurance, or building programs in a startup or high‑growth environment. Experience building or scaling a bank channel program — you’ve done this before and can hit the ground running.
