Apply now Job no: 555023 Work type: Instructional Faculty – Temporary/Lecturer Location: Los Angeles Categories: Unit 3 – CFA – California Faculty Association, Faculty – Fine/Performing Arts, Temporary, Part Time College: Arts and Letters Department of Music Instructional Faculty – Part‑time Temporary/Lecturer Pool The Music Department in the College of Arts and Letters at Cal State LA is seeking applications for a pool of part‑time faculty lecturers with positions available as determined by need during the 2026‑2027 academic year. Appointments are contingent on enrollment and budget, typically for one semester but sometimes for an academic year. Some appointments are made just prior to the start of a semester, so availability on short notice may be required. Minimum Qualifications Appropriate degree from an accredited university: bachelor’s degree (lower‑division courses) or master’s degree (upper‑division courses); doctoral degree, or master’s degree (graduate courses). More extensive teaching experience may compensate for lower degree levels. Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level. Ability to relate well to others in the academic environment and work in a multiethnic, multicultural setting. Proficiency in written and oral English is required. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive learning environment. Relevant work experience and training in the field. Duties Instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours for assigned courses. Other duties may be assigned based on departmental needs. Course assignments, including dates, times, and modality, are determined by the Department Chair under the direction of the College Dean. Salary Lecturer A/2 Full‑time equivalent: $5,507 – $6,677 Lecturer B/3 Full‑time equivalent: $6,221 – $13,224 Lecturer C/4 Full‑time equivalent: $6,825 – $14,523 Lecturer D/5 Full‑time equivalent: $8,593 – $15,211 Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience; most new lecturers are hired at Lecturer A or B rank.
