Staff Accountant

Staff AccountantWe are looking for a Staff Accountant to support accounts payable, expense reporting, and purchasing card activity in Reading, Pennsylvania. This long-term contract position is ideal for someone who enjoys maintaining accurate financial records, resolving payment issues, and working across multiple accounting systems. The role will contribute to day-to-day transactional accounting while helping ensure timely processing, policy compliance, and dependable financial reporting.Responsibilities:Process vendor invoices, employee expense submissions, and purchasing card transactions with accuracy and according to established timelines.Review charges for proper account coding, required approvals, and supporting documentation before posting items in the accounting system.Reconcile accounts payable balances, employee expense activity, and card statements to identify discrepancies and resolve outstanding items promptly.Prepare and execute payment activities, including ACH transactions and other approved disbursement methods, while maintaining complete records.Support month-end accounting tasks by recording accruals, organizing backup documentation, and assisting with account analysis.Work within ERP, Concur, ADP, and related financial platforms to enter, track, and validate accounting data.Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding invoice status, expense reports, payment details, and account discrepancies clearly and courteously.Assist with audit requests by compiling documentation, validating transaction history, and helping maintain strong financial controls.Experience in accounts payable, staff accounting, or a closely related accounting support role. Working knowledge of account coding, invoice processing, and core accounting functions within a business environment. Proficiency with accounting software, ERP platforms, and expense management tools such as Concur. Familiarity with ADP financial systems, ACH payments, accrual accounting, and payable invoice workflows. Ability to review financial transactions carefully, detect inconsistencies, and maintain a high level of accuracy. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet recurring deadlines. Effective communication skills for coordinating with employees, vendors, and internal finance partners. Previous exposure to audit support, reconciliations, and documentation control is preferred.
