Position Overview

Helping Hands Counseling Services is seeking a dedicated and licensed mental health therapist to join our compassionate team in a remote capacity serving patients in Paterson, New Jersey. In this full-time role, you will provide specialized mental health care tailored to individuals affected by trauma, including complex trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). You will play a pivotal role in shaping the healing journeys of our clients through evidence-based therapies and personalized treatment plans.

Work Environment

This position allows for full-time remote work, creating flexibility in your schedule while ensuring you contribute effectively to patient care. You will work Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some flexibility required to accommodate client needs. Our supportive team values collaboration, and we utilize modern technology and electronic health record (EHR) systems to streamline documentation and communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough trauma-informed mental health assessments to gain a deep understanding of each patient's trauma history and formulate appropriate treatment strategies.
• Develop and implement personalized treatment plans that focus on trauma recovery, resilience-building, and improving overall mental health.
• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic models, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), to deliver effective interventions.
• Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions that empower clients to process their trauma, develop effective coping mechanisms, and promote healing.
• Engage in collaborative treatment planning by working closely with psychiatrists, and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated, comprehensive care for our patients.
• Deliver immediate support during crises and trauma-related emergencies, ensuring clients receive timely and sensitive care.
• Educate clients and their families on trauma responses and coping strategies, fostering understanding and resilience.
• Maintain precise and confidential patient documentation, adhering to legal and ethical standards while ensuring effective communication within the treatment team.
• Participate in regular case consultations, team meetings, and professional development activities focused on trauma-informed practices and the latest treatment methodologies.
• Stay current with research and advancements in trauma therapy to ensure best practices in patient care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily work with individuals grappling with the consequences of trauma, including PTSD, complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. Your therapeutic efforts will have a profound impact on their ability to recover and rebuild their lives. By employing a trauma-informed lens, your interventions will help clients navigate their emotional landscapes, fostering an environment conducive to healing and personal growth.

Qualifications

• A master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Possession of a current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LPC, or LCSW in the state of New Jersey.
• A minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience delivering mental health services, preferably in trauma-informed care settings.
• In-depth knowledge of trauma-related disorders and treatment modalities, ensuring the provision of effective interventions.
• Demonstrated experience in delivering trauma-focused therapies and a solid understanding of resilience-building techniques.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, embodied in a compassionate, non-judgmental approach to client care.
• Ability to maintain composure in high-stress situations, ensuring the best outcomes for clients.
• Proficient in the use of electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant computer applications.

Preferred Experience

While a minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience is required, candidates with extensive backgrounds in trauma-informed therapy, group therapy facilitation, and crisis intervention will stand out. Experience in community healthcare settings will also be beneficial as you adapt to the dynamic needs of our patient population.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary range of USD 80,000 to 104,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to financial compensation, we provide a robust benefits package that includes:
