Job Description and Responsibilities

This is a part-time, on-site role as a Special Education Teacher serving a school located in Littleton, CO.

The Special Education Teacher (SPED) will be responsible for providing teaching and case management services to students, conducting assessments, developing IEP plans, evaluating progress, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams (therapists, educators, parents). The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for working with students with special needs.


Job Details

• Part-time school-based Resource Special Education Teacher position, approximately 20 hours per week
• 2026-2027 school year (August through May/June)
• Support high school students in grades 9-12 through resource services and inclusive educational programming
• Provide individualized and small-group instruction aligned with students' IEP goals in a resource setting
• Collaborate with general education teachers to implement accommodations, modifications, and evidence-based instructional strategies
• Manage assigned special education caseloads, including IEP development, progress monitoring, compliance documentation, and participation in eligibility and annual review meetings
• Guaranteed paid hours that include direct instruction, lesson planning, documentation, meetings, and other administrative responsibilities
• Fully on-site, in-person assignment within a collaborative high school environment
• Ongoing support and partnership from both the school district and the TheraPeds team
• Competitive compensation of $55-$70+ per hour , with estimated weekly earnings of $1,100-$1,400+

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to support high school students in achieving academic, transition, behavioral, and post-secondary goals.
• Provide specialized resource instruction through individual and small-group settings while reinforcing skills needed for success in the general education classroom.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to implement accommodations, curriculum modifications, and instructional supports that promote student achievement.
• Manage an assigned caseload by coordinating IEP meetings, maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations, and completing required documentation within established timelines.
• Monitor student progress using assessment data, classroom performance, and ongoing progress monitoring to guide instructional decisions and update IEP goals.
• Assist with evaluations, eligibility determinations, and reevaluations as part of a multidisciplinary special education team.
• Build positive relationships with students, families, teachers, administrators, and related service providers to ensure coordinated educational planning and support.
• Promote student self-advocacy, organization, and transition readiness while preparing students for post-secondary education, employment, and independent living opportunities.

Requirements

• Teaching Certification, Bachelors or Masters Degree or higher in Special Education

• State License as SPED teacher
• 1+ years of experience in a school setting preferred
• Experience working with children
• Organizational and time management skills
• Proficient in use of technology
• Fingerprint background clearance
• Ability to collaborate with school staff and parents with a demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of tact and discretion in both internal and external communications

Physical Requirements

Working and playing with students requires that employees must be able to perform the necessary physical movement functions, as needed, such as lifting, sitting, walking, standing, crawling, and engaging with students in all physical locations and activities, while adhering to the duties outlined by the district.
