Freedom Village is proud to be a debt free Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) and has been serving seniors in South Orange County, California since 1987. Our beautiful campus includes Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Skilled Nursing.

Job Overview

We are seeking a passionate and energetic Line Cook to join our dynamic culinary team! In this role, you will be the heart of food preparation, transforming fresh ingredients into delicious dishes that delight our guests. Your culinary expertise and attention to detail will ensure every plate meets our high standards for quality and presentation. Duties

• Prepare and cook menu items with precision, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish
• Follow recipes and portion controls to maintain standards and minimize waste
• Handle food safely by adhering to proper food handling, sanitation, and safety protocols
• Support food presentation, garnishing dishes attractively before serving
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation during busy service times
• Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment throughout shifts

Skills

• Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or as a line cook in a restaurant or food service setting
• Strong knife skills and familiarity with various cooking techniques
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling procedures
• Experience with dietary department requirements and dietary aide practices is a plus
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
• Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Experience in menu planning, catering, or meal preparation is highly desirable

Two (2) plus years food service in a full service restaurant, hospital or senior living retirement community setting preferred. Candidates must have understanding of overall food service production. Knowledge of state and federal regulations. Experience in quality food production and excellent dining service.

• Line Cook - Wed- Sat 9:45am to 6:45pm, Sun 6:30am-3:00pm
• Line Cook - Fri, Sat, Mon, Tues 9:45am to 6:45pm, Sun 6:30am-3:00pm

Salary

$21 to $24.00 per hour depending on experience
