Design-Build / Architecture & Construction Growth Role About Our Client Our client is a Florida-based Design-Build firm delivering architectural and construction services across commercial, healthcare, and private development markets. Their integrated approach allows architecture and construction teams to collaborate from concept through completion, and the firm has built a strong regional reputation across multiple growth sectors. Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Director of Business Development to lead client acquisition and market expansion strategy for a growing design-build organization. This is a high-visibility leadership role responsible for driving new business across key sectors, including: Mixed-Use Retail Residential Development Hospitality Senior Living The selected candidate will operate with significant autonomy, own the firm's growth strategy, and work directly alongside executive leadership, project architects, and construction teams to convert relationships into signed work. Key Responsibilities Business Development & Growth Strategy Develop and execute a strategic business development plan to drive new client acquisition and revenue growth Identify, qualify, and pursue new development, ownership, and institutional client relationships Build and manage a pipeline of prospective projects across target sectors Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and networking functions Client & Relationship Management Serve as a senior point of contact for prospective and existing clients during the pursuit phase Cultivate long-term relationships with developers, owners, brokers, and municipal stakeholders Identify repeat and referral opportunities within the existing client base Support client transition from pursuit into active project engagement Proposals & Presentations Lead proposal strategy, positioning, and content development for pursuits Prepare and deliver compelling client presentations and pitch materials Collaborate with architecture and construction leadership on qualifications packages, RFP/RFQ responses, and interview strategy Track market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities across target sectors Provide leadership with market feedback to inform service offerings and growth priorities Help shape the firm's brand positioning and go-to-market strategy Internal Collaboration Partner closely with architecture, preconstruction, and construction leadership to ensure pursuit strategy aligns with delivery capabilities Support conceptual budgeting and early project scoping discussions during the pursuit phase Provide input into fee structuring and contract strategy Required Qualifications 7-10+ years of progressive business development, client development, or sales leadership experience in architecture, construction, or design-build Proven track record of generating and closing new business in the AEC (architecture/engineering/construction) industry Strong existing network of developer, owner, and institutional relationships in Florida (Central Florida preferred) Experience leading proposal and pursuit strategy for projects $10M+ Excellent presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills Comfortable operating with autonomy and driving strategy independently Preferred / High-Value Experience The following are strong positives: Experience in multifamily, mixed-use, retail, hospitality, senior living, or healthcare development Prior experience in a design-build or integrated delivery environment Existing relationships that could translate directly into near-term pursuits Familiarity with municipal entitlement and public review processes Marketing or brand strategy experience Public speaking or industry leadership presence (associations, panels, etc.) Ideal Candidate Profile We are seeking a high-performing professional who: Is a natural relationship-builder and connector Thinks strategically about market positioning and long-term growth Is comfortable operating at the executive/ownership level with clients Is organized, proactive, and results-driven Takes ownership of pipeline and revenue outcomes Is a collaborative partner to architecture and construction leadership Seeks a long-term leadership opportunity within a growing organization This role is well suited for a business development leader ready to build and own a growth function within an established, expanding design-build firm.
