Staff Accountant

Elmhurst, IL (Hybrid – Tuesdays & Thursdays Onsite) About the Opportunity We are partnering with a growing organization in the Elmhurst area that is looking to add a Staff Accountant to its accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys a fast-paced environment, takes ownership of their work, and is eager to grow professionally. You'll gain hands‑on experience across a variety of accounting functions while working alongside a collaborative team that values continuous improvement. This role offers exposure to customer billing, month‑end close, journal entries, reconciliations, prepaids, accruals, and process improvement initiatives. There is also a clear path for growth into a Senior Accountant role with additional exposure to contract review, revenue recognition, financial reporting, and analysis. Responsibilities Manage customer billing and invoicing activities Prepare and post journal entries Maintain prepaid expense schedules and record related entries Assist with monthly accruals and month‑end close activities Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies Complete bank reconciliations and support cash reporting activities Post cash receipts and apply customer payments Monitor and analyze accounts receivable and accounts payable aging reports Partner with internal departments to resolve accounting questions and obtain necessary approvals Assist with documenting accounting procedures and identifying process improvements Support reporting requests, special projects, and other ad hoc accounting initiatives Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field strongly preferred 1–4 years of accounting experience Experience with billing, journal entries, reconciliations, accounts receivable, accounts payable, or month‑end close Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven environment Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities Strong written and verbal communication skills A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and improve processes

SUMIF/SUMIFS
