About the Position

Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Hematology Oncology – Ohio

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Schedule: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts (D/N rotation). Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on unit needs. Weekends are variable based on staffing requirements. Nurse-to-patient ratio goal is 1:4, may be 1:5.

Highlights:

• Specialize in care for newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients in a 24-bed acute hematology oncology unit
• High-acuity medical unit with emphasis on blood product administration, IV antibiotics, and electrolyte management
• Epic EMR system with telemetry monitoring (GE telemetry system)
• 72-hour comprehensive orientation with interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, rapid response teams, and specialized services
• Strong focus on infection prevention protocols and patient safety initiatives
• Float to other Medical-Surgical Oncology units as needed

Requirements:

• Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
• Minimum 2 years of overall nursing experience required
• Current acute care experience in Medical-Surgical Oncology required (must be working consistently within the last 12 months)
• At least 1 year of inpatient hematology oncology experience required
• Experience with leukemia and blood dyscrasias is mandatory
• Previous travel nursing experience required (first-time travelers not accepted)
• BLS, ACLS, and ONS Chemotherapy Certification required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Competency in central line blood draws, PICC line management, port access, and IV therapy/phlebotomy
• Experience with Epic charting system required
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• 2 professional references required (at least 1 from a manager/director or formal supervisor)
