Responsibilities
- Deliver professional nursing care to patients in the emergency department, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
- Administer medications and treatments accurately, documenting using the patient’s six rights and relevant hospital policies.
- Coordinate with physicians and the interprofessional team to plan and delegate patient care, ensuring timely evaluation and disposition.
- Monitor patient condition, interpret clinical data, identify abnormal findings, and respond to signs of cardiac or respiratory distress and other emergent situations.
- Document clearly and concisely in the electronic medical record (EPIC), maintain accurate flow of information, and provide clear handoffs during shift change.
- Support discharge planning and patient education, while upholding privacy, infection control, and quality-monitoring requirements.

Requirements
- Education: Graduate of an approved school of nursing; Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required per note.
- Licenses/Certifications: Current RN license in the state of practice (California); Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or ENPC that meets PALS requirements; NIHSS certification or demonstrated competency.
- Experience: One-year recent acute care RN experience required; at least two years of recent field experience referenced in notes; EPIC electronic medical record experience.
- Additional: AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS and AHA-PALS or ARC-PALS required within six months of hire or transfer; ability to work in a high-volume ER environment; commitment to infection control practices and patient privacy.
