In this engaging middle school role, you'll have the opportunity to make a real impact by supporting students with diverse learning needs and helping them thrive both academically and socially. As a Special Education Teacher, you’ll deliver individualized instruction aligned to IEP goals and foster a nurturing, structured classroom environment. This full-time contract opportunity offers the chance to collaborate with a dedicated network of educators, families, and service providers, all working toward student success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement instruction tailored to students’ IEPs and accommodations
• Ensure timely completion and compliance of all required special education documentation
• Analyze student progress and use data to refine teaching strategies
• Work hand-in-hand with general education teachers and staff to promote inclusion and support achievement
• Take part in IEP meetings and maintain open, effective communication with families
• Cultivate a supportive, positive classroom atmosphere conducive to every student's growth
• Support students’ academic, behavioral, social, and emotional development
• Engage in professional development, staff meetings, and district initiatives
• Take on additional responsibilities as directed by school administration

Preferred Qualifications:

• Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement (EL endorsement is a plus)
• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field
• Previous experience teaching at the middle school level is welcomed though not required
• Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
• Enthusiasm for working with learners of varied backgrounds and abilities

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions
• Mobility throughout the classroom and use of hands for classroom materials and technology
• Capacity to reach, bend, and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
