Details Works in a Birth Center with 34 L&D beds (15 labor rooms, 12 antepartum, 4 OB ED, 3 OR) and an 18-bed Postpartum unit Cares for a high acuity OB population including hypertension, C-sections (33% rate), preterm labor, insulin drips, vaginal deliveries, epidurals, inductions, PROM, multiple births, and postpartum hemorrhage Unit handles up to 300 deliveries per month Follows AWHONN patient ratio guidelines: 1:1 active labor, 1:2 non-active laboring, 1:2-3 antepartum depending on acuity 10-hour night shifts scheduled 1900-0730 48 hours per week Weekend rotation every other weekend, variable based on need No mandatory on-call requirements, though open shifts may be picked up Floats to antepartum within L&D and occasionally postpartum on the 4th floor, within scope and experience This is a break relief position with schedules built in 6-week increments and no guaranteed block schedule Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris CareFusion IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, Centricity/Qx fetal monitors, CAD Solaris epidural pumps, Panda Warmers, and Coviden SCDs Requirements Active WA or compact RN license required Current BLS, NRP, and Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (AWHONN) certifications required Minimum 2 years of L&D RN experience required, 5 years preferred High acuity experience managing and delivering high-risk OB patients required Ability to triage OB patients, circulate in the OR, perform cervical checks, and interpret fetal monitoring strips required EPIC EMR experience required First-time travelers considered upon review Additional Information Serves as a break relief RN, acting as a second set of hands to receive and recover normal newborns as needed Orientation includes hospital orientation plus 2 weeks on the unit and 1 week working independently, beginning 3 weeks before resident physicians start Schedule transitions from Days to Nights during the final 4 weeks of the assignment Supported by unit staff including CNAs, LPN scrub techs (NRP certified), receptionist/HUC, a free-floating charge nurse, 24/7 respiratory therapy, and 24/7 laborist coverage RNs are ultimately responsible for phlebotomy on the unit Holiday coverage expected on a fair and equitable basis RTO requests must be submitted prior to contract approval Scrubs are provided by the facility and may not be worn outside the building Free badge-access parking is available American Traveler Job ID P-746242.
