Compensation Business Consultant (Contract) Los Angeles, CA or Irvine, CA A leading and highly respected organization is seeking an experienced Compensation Business Consultant to join its Human Resources team on a six-month contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a compensation professional who enjoys partnering with business leaders, leveraging data to drive compensation decisions, and contributing to strategic compensation initiatives. Position Overview The Compensation Business Consultant will serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders and HR partners, providing expertise on a wide range of compensation programs and initiatives. This individual will conduct complex analyses, develop compensation recommendations, support annual compensation processes, and contribute to strategic projects that enhance compensation effectiveness across the organization. The ideal candidate is a strong analytical thinker with deep compensation experience, advanced Excel capabilities, and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. Key Responsibilities Consult with business leaders and HR partners on complex compensation matters and pay decisions. Conduct job evaluations, market pricing, and external compensation analyses. Develop compensation recommendations for new hires, promotions, transfers, and organizational changes. Support annual compensation planning cycles, bonus administration, market studies, and job pricing activities. Lead compensation-related projects involving data analysis, process improvements, and program design. Create and present compensation analyses and recommendations using data visualization tools such as Excel, Tableau, and Power BI. Partner with senior leaders on compensation strategy, design principles, and regulatory considerations. Evaluate the effectiveness and competitiveness of compensation programs and model potential alternatives. Develop educational materials and communications to support managers, employees, and HR stakeholders. Participate in cross-functional projects and represent the compensation function on enterprise initiatives. Support organizational changes by assessing compensation impacts and providing strategic guidance. Qualifications Significant experience in compensation consulting, compensation analysis, or total rewards. Strong knowledge of compensation program design, market analysis, salary structures, and incentive plans. Advanced analytical and Excel skills with the ability to interpret and present complex data. Experience creating presentations and visualizations using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and Excel.
