Railcar Mover Resident Field Technician

Foley Equipment is the authorized Caterpillar & Shuttlewagon dealer in Kansas, Colorado, and northwest Missouri. As a Railcar Mover Resident Field Technician, you'll be the go-to expert for our customers, providing on-site troubleshooting, service, and repair of railcar movers directly at their work locations. This position operates as a Field Technician based in eastern or southeastern Colorado, allowing you to support customers throughout the region. In this hands-on role, you'll represent Foley Equipment with professionalism and skill, ensuring our customers' equipment stays running safely and reliably. Your work helps keep critical operations moving forward.

Hourly Base Rate: $33.82 - $63.63 / hour

Job duties:

• Perform repair and preventive maintenance on railcar moving equipment and evaluating for other preventative maintenance items to address with the customer.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot problems, give recommendations for repairs and make all critical repairs and adjustments
• Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments
• Some troubleshooting on equipment may occasionally be required
• Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers on their repairs
• Develop and maintain long-lasting working relationships with customers
• Must be willing to work overtime as required by fluctuating workloads and available for after-hours calls as needed
• Travel is required for training and/or to assist at other locations.

Physical & Working Requirements:

• This role involves hands-on mechanical work in a shop environment. The employee must be able to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation. These functions may include:
• Safely and repeatedly lifting components weighing up to 115 pounds without assistance
• Safely lifting, carrying, and lowering components weighing up to 65 pounds without assistance
• Frequent pushing, pulling, and carrying of heavy materials
• Climbing on and off equipment and working at varying heights
• Standing, bending, and working in physically demanding positions for extended periods
• Safely operating tools and equipment

Our Ideal Candidate:

• Basic mechanical knowledge including mechanical, electrical and hydraulics
• General knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments
• Must be able to read and comprehend specifications, service and parts literature, technical bulletins and other related publications
• Ability to obtain a Class A or B CDL

What will put you ahead:

• Experience working within the diesel mechanics industry
• Railcar mover maintenance and repair experience (Shuttlewagon preferred)
• Understand crane hoist and rigging equipment (preferred)
• Stable work history
• Valid Class A CDL
