This position is located at US Mint, Protection Department - San Francisco Police. As a Police Officer, you will safeguard the US assets and artifacts including the nation's precious metal reserves; protect United States Mint employees, visitors, equipment, facilities and other resources; and provide expert security advice and counsel to the US Mint, other governments. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume. Specialized Experience: For the TR-8/GS-7, you must have one year (full 52 weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the TR-7/GS-6 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Experience that provided the application of Federal, State or Local Laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices and techniques, investigating and resolving incidents and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. If you are a displaced or surplus Federal employee (eligible for the Career Transition Assistance Plan(CTAP)/Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)) you must meet the definition of well-qualified below to receive priority selection. To be considered well qualified at the TR-8 grade level, and in addition to meeting specialized experience, the applicant must have documented in his/her resume: A solid and comprehensive understanding of the position; AND Be able to perform the required tasks efficiently; AND Be proficient in applying the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the job. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: All employees must wear face masks while on MINT property when required by CDC and Federal guidelines. This position is designated as emergency essential. The incumbent must be ready and able to deploy as required in support of varied contingencies and under severe and austere conditions. The incumbent may deploy for brief periods during a contingency event. All newly appointed employees to the competitive (or excepted) service are subject to a probationary (or trial) period. During this time, your performance, conduct, and suitability for continued employment will be evaluated. You will not automatically convert to permanent status at the end of the probationary (or trial) period. Your supervisor must affirmatively determine that continued employment is in the best interest of the Federal service. If no certification is made before the probationary (or trial) period ends, your appointment will be terminated. You are encouraged to actively engage with your supervisor, seek feedback, and understand role expectations. Additional guidance and support will be provided during onboarding. Must successfully complete a background investigation. Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency. Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer. If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so. Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S. Obtain and use a government-issued charge card for business-related travel. May be required to File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on. May be required to undergo an income tax verification. Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis, 5 days a week. Work schedules may vary and assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be available to work on all three shifts on a rotational basis. May be required to wear safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include equipment belt, body armor, riot gear, etc. All applicants tentatively selected for this testing designated position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and random drug testing while the position is occupied. Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory. You will be ineligible to occupy this position if at any time you have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, unless you received a pardon or your conviction was expunged or set aside [Lautenberg Amendment - 18 U.S.C. 922(g) (9)]. Possess a valid state motor vehicle operator's license upon appointment OR within 90 days of appointment (as appropriate) and maintain a valid license while you occupy the position. Tattoos/Branding/Intentional Scarring- Full sleeve tattoos are permissible as long as they are not deemed offensive, racist or sexist. Visible tattoos, branding or intentional scarring, or body art on the head, face, neck or scalp are prohibited. Any visible tattoos that are offensive, extremist, indecent, racist or sexist are prohibited. Visible body piercings while on duty and/or in uniform, with the exception of agency approved earrings are prohibited.
