Medical Lab Assistant

As a Pre-Analytical Assistant, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring laboratory specimens are accurately processed and ready for testing—supporting timely and high-quality patient care.

Location: Lenexa, KS

Pay Rate: $18/hour

Employment Type: Temp to Hire

Schedule: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

This role is a vital part of the diagnostic process. By ensuring specimens are properly handled, documented, and prepared, you directly contribute to accurate lab results and positive patient outcomes.

What You'll Do

• Receive, sort, rack, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing

• Perform specimen handling tasks such as centrifugation, aliquoting, storage, and delivery to appropriate lab areas

• Verify accuracy of specimen labeling and required documentation

• Identify and resolve issues related to specimen types, missing information, or processing errors

• Maintain a clean, organized workspace following safety and 5S standards

• Support workflow by collaborating with team members and adapting to changing priorities

What We're Looking For

• A current, up-to-date resume

• High School Diploma or GED required

• Basic data entry and computer skills

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to understand specimen types, handling procedures, and test requirements

• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, overtime, or varying schedules as needed

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-driven, biohazard environment

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand, sit, or walk for extended periods

• Ability to meet compliance requirements
