Tartine Bakery is growing! We’re thrilled to announce our upcoming opening in Strawberry Village, Mill Valley, CA., in the 2nd QTR of 2026. We’re looking for an experienced Sous Chef (Non - Exempt) to lead this new location, embody our hospitality values, and help deliver the distinct Tartine experience with familiar comforts presented in a way you’ve never experienced before, from a warm loaf of bread to a perfectly brewed cup of coffee. As part of our vibrant and passionate team, you will build, develop, and inspire a team that serves with care and intentionality while maintaining the operational excellence Tartine is known for. About the Role Employment Type: Full-Time (Daytime Hours / Work-life Balance) Tartine Manufactory is seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to join our culinary team. In this role, you'll support daily kitchen operations, lead by example, and help create exceptional dining experiences for our guests. Key Responsibilities: Assist in food preparation, cooking, and plating with a focus on quality and presentation Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment Lead and train kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations Collaborate on menu development and improvements Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations Benefits: Full-Time employees working 25+ hours per week are eligible for: 100% Paid Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401 (k) Commuter Benefits Dining Discounts Paid Time Off Opportunities for growth Qualifications: 5+ years of kitchen experience, including leadership roles Strong culinary skills and knowledge of kitchen operations Effective communicator and team leader Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment Flexible schedule availability Time Keeping Responsibilities: Accurate Time Entries: Clock in and out at the beginning and end of each shift using the designated timekeeping system Ensure breaks and meal periods are accurately taken and recorded Compliance with Attendance Policies: Adhere to company attendance and punctuality guidelines Report any timekeeping issues or missed punches to the General Manager promptly Use of Timekeeping Systems: Utilize the company’s time and attendance software (e.g., Toast) correctly If any work is conducted off-site (emails, etc.), use Time Clock Correction forms to record all work time Scheduling Protocol and Time Off: Review the schedule when it is posted to check for any changes or approved time-off requests Seek manager approval for any additional hours, schedule changes, or shift switches Notify supervisors of planned or emergency absences on time Ensure both paid and unpaid time off requests are entered in the HR/Payroll system (e.g., Paychex) Join us at Tartine Manufactory and be part of a culinary team that values quality, creativity, and collaboration.
