RN - Emergency Department Care Specialist

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to ensure a secure care environment.
• Maintain and care for central lines while preventing surgical site infections according to policy.
• Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and educate patients and families to promote health outcomes.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance quality, and support clinical decision-making.
• Document all patient care activities and quality measures accurately to comply with standards.
• Communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare team members to improve patient outcomes.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Engage with patients and families promptly to enhance their experience and provide education.
• Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop skills.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing school is required.

Experience

At least one year of nursing experience is preferred.

Requirements

• Current RN license valid in the regional compact or state licensure.
• Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
• Certifications required include American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), and MANDT.

Mental and Physical Demands

This position requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and twisting.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
