AHA Certified Patient Care Assistant - Medical Telemetry

General Summary
Under the supervision of a licensed nurse (RN, LPN, or shift manager), the Patient Care Assistant (PCA) delivers direct patient care with compassion and attention to safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Adheres to established safety protocols including infection prevention and safe patient handling. Performs basic patient care tasks such as monitoring vital signs, glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility. Works closely with nursing staff to meet patient needs promptly, ensuring a safe and supportive environment. Accurately documents all care activities to aid clinical decision-making and communicates relevant patient information to the healthcare team to enhance outcomes.

Education
High school diploma or GED preferred.

Experience
One year of experience and CNA certification preferred.

Certification/License
If uncertified or with less than one year of experience, attendance at a PCA training academy is required. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided.

Mental/Physical Requirements
Requires considerable mental focus. Physical demands include lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.

Working Conditions
Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
