Staff Accountant

JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for various financial analysis, general ledger accounting, and reporting functions related to Prolec-GE Waukesha, Inc. manufacturing facilities. Will provide Executive team and Controller insight into financial trends and report on operating performance while assisting in preparation of internal and external monthly financial reports, annual operating plan, and rolling forecasts. This position also plays a key role in assisting in both internal and external audits. This role has high visibility from both the executive team and the operations team. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform month/quarter/year close functions, including maintenance of the general ledger(s) and perform assigned reconciliations. Review general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries. Assist in analyzing and interpreting operating results as they affect the financial position of the Company. Assist with internal controls. Develop, maintain, and support operating budgets and investigate variances to budget and prior month/quarter/year results. Assists in coordination, preparation and analysis of the annual plan, strategies and rolling forecasts. Participate in the revision and development of new accounting policies and procedures. Performs miscellaneous financial analysis/special projects as needed. Maintain and monitor project revenue status and shipments. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Strong analytical skills. Self-motivated / strong display of initiative. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and other office technology. Knowledge of One Stream and SAP. Knowledge of complex accounting transactions. Strong organization and analytical skills. Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to interpret and effectively express critical information to a broad range of employees including senior level leadership. This position requires sensitivity for handling confidential information. Active listening and problem‑solving skills are crucial. An excellent team player with strong people skills; able to build relationships at all levels of the organization. Ability to work with limited supervision and maintain deadlines. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Required Education / Experience: Associate's degree in Accounting or Finance. 1-2 years’ experience in Accounting or Finance. Preferred Education / Experience: 1-3 years in Manufacturing environment related financial experience. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Key Working Relationships: Functional Leaders: Engineering, Human Resources, Sales Operations, Sourcing, Operations. Physical Demands: Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Working Conditions: Shop-floor and office environment, located on large manufacturing campus.
