Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN)

Specialty: Medical Surgical Unit - inpatient care for acute/chronic, surgical, palliative, and isolation patients
Place of Work (City/State): Shiprock, NM
Site: Northern Navajo Medical Center (NNMC), Shiprock, NM; may support DZHC and FCRHC
location: Hwy 491 North, Shiprock, NM 87420
Duration: 6 months, with four optional 6-month extensions (up to 30 months total).
Shift Schedule: 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM 7:30 AM, including weekends/holidays. Schedule assigned by supervisor.
How many shifts needed per month: Approximately 40 hours/week; exact shifts TBD.
Credentialing / Onboarding time: 6 weeks to 8 weeks
License: Current, unrestricted RN license from any U.S. state, DC, Puerto Rico, or U.S. Territory.
Certifications:
- BLS
- ACLS
Experience needed: 3 years of nursing experience, including at least 2 years in Medical Surgical nursing.
Special Skills needed:
- English proficiency, basic computer/EHR skills, and cultural sensitivity toward American Indian/Alaska Native populations.
- Must demonstrate Med-Surg competencies including IV/PICC care, telemetry, medication/blood administration, Foley/NG tube care, wound care, oxygen, restraints, tube feeding, PPE, and pain management.
Responsibilities:
- Provide inpatient Med-Surg care, assess and treat acute/chronic, surgical, palliative, and isolation patients
- Administer medications and treatments; maintain accurate documentation
- Follow HIPAA/IHS policies; complete required training; and float to other nursing areas as needed.
