Travel RN - Telemetry

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse-Telemetry for a fast-paced medical surgical unit requiring 2 years of post-op surgical experience and a KY or compact RN license.

Job Details

• 23-bed medical surgical unit caring for orthopedic, spine, general surgery, and bariatric patients,
• May receive overflow patients from medicine areas when beds are available,
• Busy, fast-paced unit typically receiving 10-20 post-op patients per day,
• Unit includes cardiac and O2 monitoring capability,
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30,
• Float to other units within skillset or to an affiliate hospital nearby,
• Expected to work 3 of 5 winter holidays,

Job Requirements

• Active KY or compact RN license required,
• BLS certification required (ACLS not required),
• 2 years of experience required in medical-surgical and surgical nursing,
• First-time travelers considered only with several years of experience caring for post-op orthopedic and gastrointestinal surgery patients,
• Must pass an EKG exam during onboarding,
• Experience with IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration,
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care,
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills,
• Telemetry remote monitoring experience,
• Wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE knowledge,
• Experience with surgical drains, total joint replacement, and peripheral nerve block catheters,

Additional Information

• Provide medical and surgical nursing care to a variety of post-op patients including orthopedic, spine, general surgery, and bariatric cases,
• Local candidates residing within 100 miles of the facility are not accepted,
• Returning permanent staff must be separated from all UK-affiliated facilities for at least 6 months before returning as a traveler,
• Candidates with any licensure hits will not be accepted at this facility
