Position Highlights Great Leadership Opportunity! $15,000 Sign On Bonus eligible! 3 (12) hour Day shifts 7a to 7p Weekend Requirement : Every 3rd Weekend 2+ years of RN experience required ICU experience preferred Benefit eligible first day of month after start 401(k) with match About the Neuro ICU The Neuro ICU at Barnes‑Jewish Hospital is a specialized, state‑of‑the‑art unit dedicated to the care of patients with complex neurological conditions. As a nursing professional in this unit, you'll be part of a multidisciplinary team focused on providing advanced care for patients with conditions such as traumatic brain injuries, strokes, brain tumors, spinal cord injuries, and other critical neurological disorders. The nursing team collaborates closely with neurologists, neurosurgeons, and other healthcare professionals to deliver individualized care plans tailored to each patient's needs. Role Purpose Under the direction of the manager, plans, directs, and coordinates activities of a unit on a designated shift. Performs direct patient care as needed and functions as a clinical resource to nursing and support staff. Assesses, plans, evaluates, and documents the nursing process of the assigned unit as needed. Responsibilities Facilitates identification and resolution of gaps in care from hospitalization, at discharge, and into the ambulatory care setting. Critically assesses patient data to proactively mitigate impending changes in condition and establishes consults to the interprofessional team as appropriate. Leads the development and implementation of complex individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and the patient, family, or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care. The plan of care reflects application of expert holistic clinical knowledge and skills to anticipate and prioritize complex care needs, anticipate barriers, incorporate interprofessional team and caregiver/family input, and identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes. Actively utilizes and champions scientific inquiry for evidence‑based practices (e.g., participates in journal club, facilitates practice change based on new knowledge, recommends new standards of care or revisions to current standards, conducts a literature search to support unit or organizational goals, disseminates new knowledge obtained from relevant conference or continuing education). Explores opportunities to advance nursing practice (e.g., supports community service health events as a representative of the healthcare profession, patient/family education groups, community advisory boards, member of Ethics Advisory Committee, serves as adjunct faculty, leadership board in specialty organization). Analyzes gaps in practice standards and provides feedback to peers in collaboration with leadership to enhance safe patient care. Leads the evaluation of the patient and family experience, and adjusts care provided to improve patient satisfaction and quality of care. BJC has determined this is a safety‑sensitive position.
