HR Specialist

The City of Countryside is seeking a Human Resources Specialist in the Administration Department. Under the direction of the City Administrator, this individual performs a variety of confidential, administrative and technical work associated with employee and retiree benefits, claim administration for property, liability and workers’ compensation claims and administers other employment programs and activities. Responsibilities Provide staff support for all benefit programs Maintain personnel records Initiate pay increases Administer FMLA leaves Prepare and explain new‑hire paperwork Coordinate pre‑employment screenings and background checks Serve as the staff liaison to the Board of Fire and Police Commission Assist the City Administrator with other administrative duties as assigned Requirements Highly motivated self‑starter with the ability to prioritize, organize, and manage tasks independently Excellent verbal and written communication skills Math proficiency Ability to research, compile, and analyze data Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher) Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor’s degree preferred; 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources. Salary Range $62,673 - $86,801 (starting salary $79,907 max) commensurate with qualifications and experience plus excellent benefits.
