Principal Scientist I, Energy Homeostasis

AbbVie seeks a Principal Scientist to lead external innovation and diligence activities for obesity therapeutics, focusing on early-stage pipeline advancement. The role emphasizes scientific evaluation of novel obesity targets, preclinical asset analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to expand obesity programs into neuroscience and immunology.
Responsibilities
- Lead Search & Evaluation diligence teams for external obesity collaborations and licensing opportunities
- Conduct literature and intelligence searches to identify novel obesity targets and scientific approaches
- Coordinate preclinical proof-of-concept studies with contract research organizations and academic partners
- Analyze preclinical pharmacokinetics, in vitro, and in vivo data for obesity assets
- Design mechanism-of-action experiments and prepare scientific reports on preclinical assets
Requirements
- Ph.D. in neuroscience, biology, or related biological discipline
- 6+ years independent research experience in industrial or academic settings
- Expert knowledge of CNS energy balance regulation and peripheral energy metabolism
- Demonstrated scientific achievement via peer-reviewed publications
- Proficiency with AI tools, data analysis, and graphing software
- Ability to present at international scientific conferences
- Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills
