Principal Scientist I - Pharmacology

AbbVie seeks a Principal Scientist I in Pharmacology to lead quantitative ADME sciences initiatives. The role involves directing in vitro drug metabolism assays, mentoring junior scientists, and applying translational modeling to advance small molecule drug candidates through the pipeline.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and implement novel in vitro tools and methods to predict human pharmacokinetics and drug-drug interaction potential
- Lead, mentor, and coach junior staff in established and novel in vitro drug metabolism practices
- Collaborate with discovery biology, pharmacology, and chemistry teams to generate data supporting mechanistic translational models
- Communicate internally and externally on in vitro drug metabolism topics; publish research findings and deliver presentations
- Stay current with emerging literature and science in modeling and in vitro approaches
Requirements
- PhD in Biological, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or related field with 10+ years ADME pharma/biotech experience; or Bachelor's/Master's with 15+ years in vitro ADME and DMPK experience
- Deep expertise in drug metabolism, ADME principles, enzyme kinetics, IVIVE, and DDI risk assessment
- Strong publication record and demonstrated scientific leadership in in vitro ADME
- Excellent communication, presentation skills, and ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Strong technical problem-solving capability with passion for implementing new technologies
- Ability to inspire and mentor junior scientists with cross-functional relationship building skills
