About the Position

TravelNurseSource is working with Malone Healthcare to find a qualified Med/Surg RN in Madison, Wisconsin, 53701!

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit serving an adult and geriatric population with a variety of conditions and diagnoses under a Family Medicine service
• Care for patients including those from Department of Corrections facilities within a secured, locked wing; staff are always accompanied by a DOC officer when assisting these patients
• Initiate and manage intravenous (IV) access as a routine component of patient care
• Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms, including identification of lethal arrhythmias and heart blocks
• Float to other units as needed based on patient care demands
• Pass a facility-required Telemetry exam prior to start date

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• BLS certification required - American Heart Association (AHA) only
• Minimum of 2 years of acute care inpatient RN experience within the last 3 years in Medical Surgical/Telemetry
• Demonstrated experience starting IVs required
• EPIC electronic health record experience required
• Must pass a facility Telemetry exam prior to start (adult and pediatric components; passing score of 80% or higher with 100% identification of lethal rhythms; up to three attempts permitted under specified conditions)
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted

• Experience caring for geriatric patient populations
• Familiarity with caring for patients in a secured or correctional care environment
• Strong cardiac rhythm interpretation skills across a broad range of arrhythmias

• Opportunity to practice at a Magnet®-designated academic medical center recognized as a leading hospital, teaching institution, and referral center
• Rotating schedule is structured to limit day/night flips to no more than 2 times per 6-week scheduling period, with at least 36 hours off between the end of a night shift and the beginning of a day shift for patient care
