Human Resources Generalist Pay Status and Classification: Exempt, Regular Full-time Supervisor: Director of Benefits & Employee Engagement Essential Responsibilities and Duties Leave Administration: Leads the daily administration of leave management, including Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, Workers’ Compensation, Family and Medical Leave (FMLA), NYS Paid Family Leave, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and other leaves. Serves as the primary subject matter expert on leave-related laws, policies, and processes. Interprets and applies federal, state, and institutional leave regulations and labor laws; liaises between employees, departments, and third‑party administrators to ensure timely and compliant documentation, tracking, communication, and payroll management; manages separation of employment in alignment with long‑term disability transitions; maintains accurate records and updates the leave tracking system; provides consultation to department leaders regarding leave and accommodation matters; handles sensitive personnel matters with discretion, including protected health information and HIPAA compliance. Workers’ Compensation Support: Leads and coordinates the College’s Workers’ Compensation program in collaboration with EHS and the third‑party insurance carrier; ensures timely submission of incident reports and supporting documentation; collaborates on incident investigations and root‑cause analysis; processes relevant work orders; maintains the OSHA 300 log and supports annual reporting compliance when notified. Ergonomic Accommodations: Evaluates ergonomic assessments with EHS to identify risk factors and propose workplace solutions; collaborates with department leaders on procurement and implementation of ergonomic solutions. Human Resources Administration and Support: Supports HR operations and continuous improvement of HR services; develops and updates employment and leave communications; supports employee engagement and benefit administration initiatives, open enrollment and HR events; facilitates recruitment efforts while ensuring compliance with hiring protocols. Qualifications Associate’s degree and 1–3 years of general HR experience, preferably in higher education, or equivalent education, training, certifications, and leave management experience. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build rapport across a diverse campus community and deliver top‑tier customer service. Ability to independently manage multiple deadlines and priorities with high accuracy and efficiency. Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply policies, regulations, and laws to make sound, well‑reasoned decisions. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, basic familiarity with Google Suite, experience with HRIS (Workday preferred), and web‑page administration. Ability to excel in managing multiple competing priorities and allocate time efficiently while maintaining high quality and attention to detail. Exercise exceptional judgment, ensure strict confidentiality, and demonstrate outstanding professionalism in a range of situations. Compensation The annual salary range for this position is $62,000–$64,000. The final salary will be based on departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The stated range represents the College’s good faith estimate at the time of posting.
