Business Development Manager

Location: San Diego, CA – 5 days a week onsite – Del Mar Employment Type: Permanent Travel: Up to 25% Salary: 160-180k (up to 200k if they have 5-10+ E2E Deals) 30% bonus, 70 RSU's Overview Our client is seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to support the identification, evaluation, and execution of strategic licensing opportunities and partnerships across the biopharmaceutical industry. This individual will play a key role in expanding the company's pipeline through scientific diligence, business analysis, valuation, and deal execution activities. The ideal candidate combines a strong scientific background with proven business development and transaction experience within biotech or pharmaceutical organizations. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher in Neuroscience, Endocrinology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, or a related Life Sciences field 3+ years of Business Development experience within a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company Prior experience in drug discovery, research, and development environments Experience sourcing, evaluating, and conducting diligence on preclinical and clinical-stage assets Demonstrated success leading or significantly contributing to at least three end-to-end licensing transactions (deal sheet required) Experience with in-licensing and/or out-licensing agreements Strong negotiation experience involving term sheets, licensing agreements, and commercial contracts Experience identifying partnership opportunities through industry conferences such as BIO and the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference Ability to evaluate scientific data, intellectual property, competitive landscapes, and market opportunities Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills Advanced proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite Ability to travel up to 25% Key Responsibilities Business Development & Deal Execution Identify, evaluate, and pursue licensing, partnership, and strategic collaboration opportunities Lead business development transactions from early-stage evaluation through commercialization Conduct scientific, commercial, and competitive assessments of potential opportunities Develop business cases, financial analyses, and valuation models to support decision-making Support negotiation and execution of licensing agreements, term sheets, and related contracts Due Diligence & Strategic Assessment Lead and coordinate cross-functional due diligence efforts involving Research, Development, Legal, Intellectual Property, Finance, and Commercial teams Evaluate scientific data packages, mechanisms of action, preclinical and clinical results, and therapeutic potential Assess competitive landscapes, emerging technologies, and industry trends Monitor key developments across relevant therapeutic areas and identify strategic opportunities Cross-Functional Leadership Lead and manage internal and external project teams while ensuring alignment with established timelines and objectives Partner closely with Research and Development teams to prioritize external opportunities Coordinate diligence meetings and drive communication among stakeholders Collaborate with external advisors, investment banks, consultants, and potential partners Industry Engagement & Presentations Represent the company at partnering and industry conferences Build and maintain relationships with biotechnology companies, academic institutions, and strategic partners Develop and deliver executive-level business development presentations Support the continuous improvement of Business Development processes, infrastructure, and best practices Compliance & Team Development Ensure all activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards Participate in mentoring, developing, and evaluating team members as needed Perform additional duties as assigned Ideal Background Strong scientific foundation with the ability to understand complex therapeutic and technology platforms Proven success executing licensing transactions within biotech or pharmaceutical organizations Experience navigating cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment Ability to balance scientific evaluation with commercial and strategic considerations Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and project management skills This is an excellent opportunity for a scientifically driven business development professional looking to play a key role in shaping and expanding a leading biopharmaceutical pipeline. #J-18808-Ljbffr
