Business Development Manager / Sales Engineer – West Coast

We are looking for a Business Development Manager / Sales Engineer to build and expand a growing territory across the Western U.S. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically minded sales professional, or an engineer ready to move into business development, to help municipalities and infrastructure owners find smarter, less disruptive solutions for aging water infrastructure.

\n

\n

This role will focus heavily on municipal clients, engineering firms, EPC/construction partners, and utility organizations , with an emphasis on developing relationships and creating opportunities rather than simply responding to traditional bids.

\n

What You'll Do

\n

\n
• Build and grow relationships with municipalities, consulting engineers, contractors, EPC firms, and other infrastructure partners.
\n
• Develop new business opportunities and establish a strong presence throughout the assigned territory.
\n
• Identify infrastructure projects early and help develop them from the initial concept through contract award.
\n
• Create conceptual layouts, preliminary project pricing, schedules, and technical proposals.
\n
• Work with customers to identify opportunities where trenchless pipeline rehabilitation can provide a better alternative to traditional open-cut construction.
\n
• Conduct lunch-and-learns, technical presentations, project development meetings, and customer visits to educate engineers, contractors, and municipalities.
\n
• Participate in industry associations, conferences, and local market-development activities.
\n
• Work closely with estimating, operations, and marketing teams to develop successful project pursuits.
\n
• Research upcoming projects and maintain visibility into future municipal and infrastructure work.
\n
• Help develop specifications and introduce innovative trenchless solutions to new and existing markets.
\n
• Manage opportunities, proposals, and customer relationships throughout the sales process.

Key qualifications:

\n

\n
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
\n
• 3+ years of relevant experience in underground infrastructure, utility construction, pipeline services, engineering, or a related industry.
\n
• Experience working with municipal customers is highly valuable.
\n
• Understanding of underground pipeline design, utility construction, and permitting.
\n
• Ability to develop conceptual layouts and communicate technical solutions.
\n
• Comfortable with project pricing, proposals, and technical presentations.
\n
• Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
\n
• Ability to develop relationships with engineers, municipalities, contractors, and industry organizations.
\n
• PE license preferred, but not required.
\n
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a territory-building environment.
\n
• Willingness to travel approx. 50%.
