About the Position

Job Title

Travel RN – Cardiac Stepdown Unit (Night Shift)

Richmond, VA | Acute Care

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13 Weeks | Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Every Other Weekend Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on an 18-bed Cardiac Stepdown Unit with a 4:1 patient-to-nurse ratio
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms every 4 hours and perform vital signs and assessments on the same schedule
• Manage patients with equipment including central lines, PCA pumps, Foley catheters, chest tubes, pacer wires, telemetry, and drains
• Administer and monitor cardiac drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, and nitroglycerin
• Care for post-surgical and cardiac patients including CABG, valve replacement, TAVR, Mitral clip, thoracotomy, AFib, CHF, and MI
• Float to telemetry and med-surg units as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in Virginia
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac monitors
• Ability to administer narcotics
• Proficiency with Meditech EMR

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior stepdown or PCU experience strongly preferred
• Strong cardiac knowledge and familiarity with cardiac surgical patient populations
• Team-oriented with strong critical thinking skills and a compassionate approach to patient care
