Location: Long Island City, NY (5 days onsite)

Type: Temp-to-Perm

Rate: $32/hr

Position Summary:

Our client, a nonprofit organization, is seeking a Grants Accountant to manage government and privately funded contracts and grants. This role will support grant accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, compliance, and audit activities while partnering with program teams.

What You'll Do

• Manage a portfolio of contracts and grants.
• Prepare grant proposals, budgets, budget modifications, and financial analyses.
• Review grants monthly to ensure accurate financial data for claims and reimbursements.
• Manage allocation of personnel and OTPS costs to contracts.
• Perform budget variance reviews and prepare financial reports.
• Track grant receivables, claims, and payments.
• Reconcile contract accounts and general ledger activity.
• Prepare timely reports for leadership.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors.
• Respond to financial and compliance information requests.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Nonprofit fund accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with government contracts, vouchers, and claims.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
