Job DescriptionThe Sous Chef plays a key role in supporting the Executive Chef by overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality, and managing kitchen staff. This role requires hands-on involvement in food preparation, menu planning, and maintaining kitchen safety, while also contributing to recipe development and cost control. The Sous Chef works closely with the team and uses culinary software and inventory systems to streamline operations and support efficient kitchen management.
Responsibilities
- Prepare food and oversee high-quality presentation
- Assist in menu planning and recipe development
- Supervise and train kitchen staff to maintain performance standards
- Manage inventory, order supplies, and control food costs
- Enforce kitchen safety and sanitation standards
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef and kitchen team for smooth operations
- Utilize culinary and inventory software alongside manual tracking methods
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in culinary arts
- Expertise in food preparation and kitchen management
- Knowledge of menu planning and food safety & sanitation
- Experience with inventory control and ordering processes
- Proven team leadership and time management skills
- Strong communication abilities
