Renewables Sales Engineer Road Warrior

Location: Remote (Heavy Travel – 75%)

\n

Regions Hiring: East Coast & West Coast

\n

Reports To: Regional Sales Leader

\n

Compensation: Lower base salary with a strong variable/commission structure tied to bookings, margins, and new account development.

\n

About the Role

\n

Virginia – Georgia Transformer Corporation, the largest U.S.-owned manufacturer of power transformers, is seeking high-energy Renewables Sales Engineers to support Renewables/Solar, Wind, BESS.

\n

\n

You do NOT need an engineering degree — we want driven sales professionals with strong customer skills, road experience, and the personality to win business.

\n

The ideal candidate is a hunter who enjoys building relationships, traveling, meeting customers face-to-face, and driving growth in a competitive market.

\n

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n

Sales Execution

\n

\n
• Drive growth in assigned region by selling distribution and power transformers to Commercial Renewables, solar or BESS selling transformers above 30 MVA.
\n
• Generate new inquiries, follow up on quotes, secure orders, and achieve assigned booking and margin goals.
\n
• Travel extensively (up to 75%) to visit utilities, engineering firms, channel partners, and key accounts.
\n
• Identify and develop new accounts and emerging market opportunities.
\n
• Strengthen existing relationships through regular onsite visits, follow-up, and responsiveness.
\n

\n

Pipeline & Territory Management

\n

\n
• Build and maintain a strong pipeline of inquiries and opportunities across assigned territory.
\n
• Track leads, quotes, and close rates; adjust strategy to improve hit rate and increase bookings.
\n
• Work with internal Application Engineers to ensure accurate and timely quotations.
\n
• Support channel partners, manufacturers’ reps and distributors to help them achieve their sales targets.
\n

Customer Engagement

\n

\n
• Conduct customer visits, lunch-and-learns, product presentations, and trainings.
\n
• Understand customer needs, project requirements, and competitive positioning.
\n
• Negotiate pricing and commercial terms on major opportunities with support from leadership.
\n
• Partner with Project Management to ensure customers stay informed during order execution.
\n

Market Intelligence & Reporting

\n

\n
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of competitive landscape, utility programs, and regional opportunities.
\n
• Provide accurate CRM inputs, sales forecasts, and market updates.
\n
• Work with Marketing to refine sales collateral and value proposition messaging.
\n

Qualifications

\n

Required

\n

\n
• No technical degree required — we will teach the products.
\n
• 3+ years of sales experience
\n
• Strong relationship-building skills, drive, personality, and competitive spirit.
\n
• Comfortable with heavy travel (75%) across assigned region.
\n
• Proficiency in Excel and CRM tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar).
\n
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
\n
• Ability to make cold calls and develop new accounts.
\n
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
\n

• Experience selling into Commercial Renewables, solar or BESS.

• Experience with electrical equipment, capital equipment, or field service solutions (not required but helpful).

• Prior success in a high-bonus, performance-based compensation structure.
