Senior Payroll Specialist

Location: Germantown, MD, US, 20876 Job ID: 114850 Senior Payroll Specialist DRS RADA Technologies, a subsidiary of Leonardo DRS, is focused on proprietary radar solutions and legacy avionics systems supporting the defense industry globally. The company is a global pioneer of AESA tactical radars for active military protection, counter-drone applications, critical infrastructure protection, and border surveillance. Job Responsibilities Responsible to process payroll including balancing and reconciling all payroll figures Verify payroll, including entering any exceptions such as overtime, personal time, sick time, vacation time, etc. Verify yearend incentive through the payroll system Prepare reports as required by location, calculating the new gross YTD payroll using beginning gross, new hire gross, gross salary increases, termination gross, etc. Balance the total YTD payroll figures calculated on the control worksheet to both the Employee File Maintenance Report and the Payroll Balance Sheet reports Balance direct deposit payroll data and release to bank via phone Prepare wire transfer request forms for all payrolls Balance all garnishments and issue checks to appropriate agencies through accounts payable system Prepare verifications of employment for employee credit applications, mortgages, etc Balance all yearend W-2 data, including gross wages, taxes, life insurance, moving expenses, car allowances, etc. Answer payroll inquiries from a variety of sources including employees, management, banks, governmental agencies etc. Prepare journal entries as needed, such as to record void checks, errors, etc. Analyze various payroll liability and cash general ledger accounts on a monthly basis Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy in a multi-task environment Work involves sensitive and confidential information; discretion is essential Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience 5+ years of experience Mastery of payroll business procedures and principles Working knowledge of computerized payroll systems Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite Knowledge of local, state and federal laws that pertain to the payment of wages The salary range for this position is $69,051.00/year-$89,767.00/year . This range reflects the good faith estimate of pay the employer is willing to offer at the time of posting. Several factors can influence the pay scale, including but not limited to: Federal contract labor categories and contract wage rates, collective bargaining agreements, geographic location, business considerations, scope, and responsibilities of the position, local or other applicable market conditions, and internal equity. Other factors include the candidate’s qualifications such as prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education/training, and certifications.
