Job Description
Registered Nurse - Surgical Observation Unit

Schedule

This position requires a night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM and 7 AM to 7 PM on a rotating basis. A total of 36 hours per week is available, including one weekend shift per week or two weekend shifts every other week. Candidates must also commit to at least one holiday shift per contract.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide direct patient care in a Surgical Observation Unit, caring for patients undergoing orthopedic, urology, ENT, general surgery, and other postoperative care. The RN will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to promote safe, evidence-based nursing practice while ensuring the highest standards of patient care.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care in a surgical observation setting.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members.
• Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to changes.
• Administer medications and perform necessary medical procedures.
• Document patient care accurately in the EPIC system.
• Float to other units as needed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of acute hospital experience, with at least 1 year in a surgical observation or similar specialty.
• Active New York RN license.
• AHA BLS certification.
• Must have 2 years of U.S. work experience for non-U.S. candidates.

Assignment Duration

This is a 16-week contract position with potential for extension based on facility needs.
