Teacher - Moderate Disabilities/Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Gr. K0/K1 (Long-Term Substitute) (SY26-27) Job Description This is a long‑term substitute position. The teacher is expected to begin on 02 September 2026 and finish on 01 June 2027. Substitute teachers are hired as per‑diem employees. We seek an exceptional Special Education teacher with expertise in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and an SEI Endorsement to join our Maryland school community. Responsibilities Implement district learning goals and objectives, aligning with state frameworks, and identify access points for student portfolio development. Provide small‑group instruction to students with moderate to severe cognitive delays, ensuring comprehension and progress in the general curriculum. Write and implement goals and objectives consistent with each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP); provide timely and regular progress reports. Provide necessary accommodations for student learning and testing; when required, develop and implement curriculum and analyze student work in preparation for the MCAS Alternative Assessment. Collaborate with other staff members to support students’ needs for modification within the school building. Assist students transitioning to adult living services where appropriate. Participates in and contributes to a collaborative adult learning community. Qualifications – Required Hold a Bachelor’s degree. Hold a Massachusetts Teaching License in Moderate Disabilities for the appropriate grade level. Hold either an ESL License or an SEI Endorsement at the appropriate level. Meet all state and federal guidelines for licensure and be Highly Qualified. Meet Boston Public Schools’ Standards of Effective Teaching. Be authorized to work in the United States by the first day of employment. Qualifications – Preferred Experience teaching in urban schools. Degree in Special Education. Fluency in one of the district’s official languages: Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, or Somali. Preferred certification in Both Moderate Disabilities and English as a Second Language at the appropriate grade level. Terms School start and end times vary. Some schools have a longer day under the Schedule A Expanded Learning Time agreement.
