Contract Payroll Specialist (Can be Fully Remote if need be)

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team on a contract basis to provide coverage for a leave of absence. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional with strong Workday Payroll experience who can quickly step in and support a complex, multi-state payroll environment.

This position is expected to last approximately 4 months .

Key Responsibilities

• Process and support monthly U.S. payroll activities for a multi-state employee population using Workday Payroll .
• Submit payroll inputs and updates through Workday EIB .
• Review employee changes, compensation updates, deductions, benefits enrollments, tax elections, and time entry information.
• Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies while ensuring payroll accuracy and compliance.
• Respond to employee questions regarding pay, taxes, deductions, and payroll transactions.
• Support payroll audits, reconciliations, and reporting activities.
• Coordinate with third-party payroll service providers regarding payments, tax notices, and payroll-related inquiries.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and payroll information.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on U.S. payroll processing experience using Workday Payroll .
• Experience managing or supporting the full payroll cycle in a multi-state environment.
• Strong understanding of payroll taxes, garnishments, benefits deductions, and payroll compliance requirements.
• Advanced analytical and reconciliation skills with the ability to identify and resolve payroll issues.
• Strong Excel skills, including experience with functions such as VLOOKUPs and data analysis.
• Ability to work independently and quickly learn existing payroll processes.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with OneSource Virtual (OSV) .
• Experience supporting payroll populations of several hundred employees.
• Prior experience in a remote payroll environment.

Additional Information

• Fully remote opportunity.
• Approximately 4-month contract assignment.
• Standard business hours with some flexibility.
• Interview process consists of 1-2 virtual interviews.
