Minimum Qualifications

This is advanced responsible professional work with supervisory responsibility in the financial management of a public investment portfolio. An employee in this class is responsible for investing surplus public money in various securities to obtain maximum financial return consistent with future money requirements. Emphasis of the work is on evaluating prices, maturities, and yields of U.S. securities, comparing maturities against expected future money needs, determining which prices and maturities are best for the County, and adjusting investment strategy by balancing maturities and expenditures with the investment yield curve. Responsibilities include supervising computer processing of all security transactions, initiating bond service payments on County bond issues, and assisting auditors in their examination of investment portfolio transactions.
