Sales Executive - Small Commercial

Compensation Overview The annual base salary range for this position is $109,300.00 – $180,200.00. The actual salary will be determined by factors such as scope, complexity, location, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, and other conditions of employment. Employees are eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards. What Is the Opportunity? The Sales Executive Team is dedicated to navigating and managing a high performing sales culture in‑person and/or virtually, contributing to the overall success of the Select business. The team executes industry‑leading sales strategies aligned with business objectives, builds effective relationships with customers, distribution partners and fellow employees, and creates tactical sales plans for profitable growth through extensive product knowledge and state‑of‑the‑art sales and influencing tactics. This outside sales position requires residency in the Louisville territory. What Will You Do? Develop, influence, and implement advanced sales strategies to expand and manage a high‑value portfolio of business, with the objective of driving profitable growth. Own assigned territory, including business development, leveraging performance metrics to create annual plans and manage territorial performance. Conduct comprehensive agency diagnostics to assess performance and identify strategic growth opportunities. Facilitate high‑level agency appointments and build long‑term relationships through office visits (both in‑person and virtual). Prospect, onboard and set performance goals for new agencies, while providing training and support. Pre‑qualify accounts as needed. Influence key agency partners through exceptional communication and negotiation skills. Collaborate with internal teams (Product, Underwriting, Operations) to align sales strategies with broader business objectives. Utilize cross‑sell opportunities to extend Travelers products and initiate cross‑functional meetings. Maintain knowledge of competitor products, local market trends, and state regulatory impacts on agency business. Facilitate workshops and lead point‑of‑sale presentations for both internal and external audiences. Participate in, and where appropriate lead, cross‑team or cross‑business projects. Provide training, coaching and mentoring to Associate Sales Executives and Sales Executives, or manage staff on a limited basis. Use sophisticated data and analytics to guide strategic sales decisions and identify additional product and service opportunities. Leverage Travelers’ systems and platforms to support the sales process. Leverage AI technologies to optimize processes, enhance decision‑making, and drive innovation. Perform other duties as assigned. What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have? Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing, business or a related field. Five or more years of insurance sales or related experience in managing a book of business, driving significant sales growth, achieving targets, conducting agency diagnostics and using digital sales tools. Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) certification or willingness to pursue it. Extensive knowledge of Travelers products and the Property & Casualty marketplace. Strong influencing and negotiation skills to encourage agency partners to adopt Travelers products and services. Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders internally and externally. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Ability to define goals and priorities and meet them in a timely manner. Exceptional organizational skills to manage complex tasks, priorities and deadlines effectively. Demonstrated skills in coaching, training and mentoring others. What Is a Must Have? Four years of sales experience within the insurance industry. Must live in the territory they manage and have the ability to travel up to 75% of the time. What Is in It for You?
